Welcome to the Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game Research Project (MMORPGRP - pronounced Morp-Group)

There are currently a variety of open source massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) projects in existence over at Sourceforge.

There are many novel MMORPG's in existence.

There are also 3d engines such as Crystalspace that are open source.

This research project may attempt to discover how to to integrate the most appropriate technologies to develop an MMORPG that is:
* Flexible (like a gymnast)
* Fun (like a fun person)
* Fast (like a cheetah)
* Decentralized (like something not central)
* Secure (like a safe)
* Light (like a feather)
* Portable (like a car)
* Open (like an open door)

Questions to Answer
What is the corporate appeal of projects like Second Life?
* Second life has over 8 million users.
What has contributed to World of Warcraft's amazing success?
* The amount of content, support, the blizzard name, the previous warcraft titles, amazing maintainance and updates(patches)
* A large user base
How can custom scripting be implemented into an MMORPG?
* addons (i.e. WoW using LUA)
* This can be done using by programming the server to control some objects' behavior using an internal scripting language.
What would be a more specific and appropriate name for this project?
* OMP (Open MMORPG Project)
* OpenWorld
* WikiVerse
How could security be implemented in a decentralized MMORPG while still keeping the integrity of character abilities and powers?
* check abilities/powers etc against a database record and check for increases or decreases according to items or benificial effects and check where they came from and block "bad" ones.
* How could this question be worded more succinctly and clearly?
* Before you can discuss security, you need to know how the "decentralized" model works.
What is meant by decentralized? What is not to made centralized in the game?

Will there be a true decentralized network, or will there still be a server?
* If there is a server then what will be done with Peer to Peer and what will be done on the server?

Brain storming
Tentatively, the structure will be as follows:
A server will hold the place holder of a world, the size of earth, with a sun the size of the sun, and all the planets as they are. I will essentially be a clone of present reality... in a rough, extremely undetailed for (so that one server could initially handle the load). Perhaps all this could be accomplished with 50MB - 1 GB of hard drive space.

the mineral
Aquamarine (Lat. aqua marina, "water of the sea") is a gemstone-quality transparent variety of beryl, having a delicate blue or bluish-green colour, suggestive of the tint of sea-water. It's closely related to the emerald.

It occurs at most localities which yield ordinary beryl, some of the finest coming from Russia. The gem-gravels of Ceylon contain aquamarine. Clear yellow beryl, such as occurs in Brazil, is sometimes called aquamarine chrysolite. When corundum presents the bluish tint of typical aquamarine, it is often termed Oriental aquamarine.

In the United States, aquamarines can be found at the summit of Mt. Antero in the Sawatch Range in central Colorado. In Brazil, there are mines in the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Bahia.

The biggest aquamarine ever mined was found at the city of Marambaia, Minas Gerais. It weighed over 110 kg, and its dimensions were 48.5 cm long and 42 cm in diameter.

Aquamarine is the birthstone associated with March.

* List of minerals
Aquamarine is the birthstone of march. It is a light blue form of beryl, one of the hardest minerals. Aquamarine often occurs as veins in othewr minerals. Ancient Romans gave this mineral it's name. Aquamarine is derived from "aqua" meaning water and "mare" meaning sea. The stone very closely resembles the color of sea water. The stones were said to have been washed up on the shores from the depths of the sea. Because of these origins, aquamarines were said to be sacred to Neptune, the god of the sea. Folklore stated that carrying an aquamarine stone with one on a journey to sea would bring safe journeys and protect the bearer from sea monsters and other perils. Greeks were known to have carried aquamarine amulets with them to sea as early as 500 B.C. Sometimes the god Posseidon was engraved on the stone. The Romans believed that aquamarine could help heal ailments of the digestive, mouth, and throat. During the middle ages, aquamarine was used as an antidote against poison. In addition to all this, it was used by fortune tellers to tell the future.
