The Norwegian Work Research Institute is a social science research institute based in Oslo, Norway. It is state owned but independent in its research. Its purpose is to "produce systematic knowledge on working life".
The current managing director of AFI is sociologist Arild H. Steen. In addition, there are three research directors. The board of directors is chaired by Steinar Stjernø.
