MediaOne Academy is a media institute that was established by Madhyamam Broadcasting Limited in 2010. MediaOne Academy is a sister organisation of [[Media One TV]].
Madhyamam has a legacy of revolutionizing the media sector in the state. Promoting an alternative media culture by giving voice to the voiceless, Madhyamam paved a new path in the contemporary media world. As its 25th anniversary present to the wide range of readers, Madhyamam has recently launched its television version as MediaOne TV, a combination of General Entertainment and News Channel. Following the footsteps, MBL Media School was established in 2010 to revolutionize media education by creating motivated, committed, professionally competent, highly skilled and socially conscious next-generation media practitioners. The Media School is committed to high standards in media research, production and teaching practices. Being a part of the Madhyamam family, MBL Media School provides a unique opportunity to students to learn from industry experts and on-job training in latest technologies.
 
The Media School's broad mission encapsulates the need to impart a holistic education having a sound amalgam of theoretical and practical learning. On the solid foundation of latest research in the field of media and communication, the students are encouraged to creatively explore mass media for social change. They are motivated to try out innovative ideas and forms and to come up with alternative media practices in the domains of mass media. To this end students are provided with state-of-the-art facilities for production of news bulletins, audio-video programmes, documentaries etc.
 
Being a sister organization of MediaOne TV channel, MBL Media School provides a unique opportunity to students to utilize all technical facilities available at the channel for their training. These include state-of-the-art news studios, editing suites, shooting floors, production control room, master control room etc. Experienced and renowned media practitioners from MediaOne TV and Madhyamam Newspaper take regular workshops for the students. During the course the students get the opportunity to take part in production activities of the channel such as news programmes, reality shows, etc. By the end of the course the students will not be just freshers but experienced professionals with all the competence required for the media industry.
 
The institute has an exclusive placement and marketing cell which works closely with the media industry to provide placement support to the students. Within a short period of commencement of the institute, more than thirty students have been placed in MediaOne and other TV channels. The institute guarantees internship to all students joining one year and degree courses.

The MediaOne Academy, in association with Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science and Technology, organised a five-day national science communication workshop at its campus on September 14–18, 2015.[1] Monthly, it collaborates with Pedestrian Pictures and Crown Cinema to screen of documentary films, short films, and music albums at the Crown Theatre in Calicut.[2]

Student and alumni production

The Burning Ghats, a film produced by MediaOne Academy, was selected for the National Science Film Festival and Competition in 2014, which was organised by Vigyan Prasar, the Department of Science and Technology and the National Council of Science Museums.[3] The student diploma film Human Island produced by MediaOne Academy student, Fasilul Farisa, received Bronze Beaver Award at 2015 National Science Festival organised by the Department of Science and Technology and the National Council of Science Museums.[4]
