Having the designs available for a variety of different objects could benefit humanity.
If designs for a variety of useful items were licensed under the GFDL or other "free" licenses, this would give the chance for commercial and not-for-profit entities to more easily enter the market. This also may allow for the items to be produced at the lowest possible cost.
This resource is here to promote and create easily accessible and truly open designs, and to allow people "learn by doing" along the way.

How to get involved
For the most part, THERE ARE NO WRONG WAYS TO GET INVOLVED so please do what you think would further the goals of this project but more importantly the mission of Wikiversity and Wikimedia as a whole, so long as you adhere to a few basic rules:

- Be bold
- Assume good faith towards others
- Act in good faith in your contributions
