This resource is here to promote and create easily accessible and truly open designs, and to allow people to learn by doing along the way.
Why
Why open design? Open designs, that can collaboratively be added to changed, and checked have multiple uses. They lower the entry cost to markets. They allow for shared knowledge. Imagine if you and everyone else had electronic copies your cars design prints, and electronic copy of every design of every part of your car.
Brainstorming
Things that would be useful to have open designs for might include:
- E-ink
- Microchips
- Microphones
- LCD's
- Flash memory
Appliances
==Clothing
Materials
Transportation
- Open design jet - how much could an open design jet reduce costs to consumers and businesses while raising profit margins?
- Open design cars
- Open design airplanes
Agriculture
Industry
- Open design heavy equipment
- Open design tractor
- Open design machine tools
- Open design manufacturing equipment
- Open design electric motors
Energy
Buildings
- Open design barns
- Open design houses
- Open design skyscraper - Would having a template design reduce costs? Could it be forked into infinite variations?
- Other buildings and Blue prints
Miscellaneous
- Open design pipes
- Wind tunnel
- Exercise equipment
How to get involved
For the most part, THERE ARE NO WRONG WAYS TO GET INVOLVED so please do what you think would further the goals of this project but more importantly the mission of Wikademia and Wikimedia as a whole, so long as you adhere to a few basic rules:
- Be civil towards others (and maybe even considerate, polite, and respectful)
- Be bold
- Assume good faith towards others
- Act in good faith in your contributions
