Technique history
Katate Hazushi Ichi is generally the first on the list of Yawara due to its very simple nature and high usefulness. Wrist escapes are traditionally taught first in many traditional martial arts due to the usefulness of seizing a warrior's sword arm as a prelude to a sneak attack.
Variations
Circular escapes
Circular escapes are varitions on the art in which instead of snapping outward, Tori breaks Uke's grip by rotating his wrist around Uke's and escapes by using his wrist as a lever. Template:Martialarts-stub
