Sasae Tsurikomi Ashi is one of the traditional forty throws of Judo as developed by Jigaro Kano. Sasae Tsurikomi Ashi belongs to the first group, Dai-ikkyo, of the traditional throwing list, Gokyo (no waza) [1], of Kodokan Judo. It is also part of the current 67 Throws of Kodokan Judo. [2] It is classified as a foot technique, Ashi-Waza. [3]
The technique is also known as Sasae Ashi in Danzan Ryu, and is one of the twenty throwing techniques in the Nage No Te list.

Whereas in Hiza Guruma, uke's leg has not (necessarily) began to step, in Sasae Tsurikomi Ashi uke is stepping forward. Midway into uke's step, tori blocks while pulling uke forward. In DZR's kata of Sasae Ashi, uke does a straight over. In Judo, uke rotates to a side fall. [4]
