Sreeram Chaulia (born November 18, 1978) is an Indian analyst of international affairs for Hong Kong-based Asia Times and New Delhi-based Indo-Asian News Service. He is the author of over 190 articles and book reviews in multiple scholarly journals, daily newspapers and magazines, covering topics like diplomacy, national security, war and peace, political economy, human rights, terrorism, literature and arts. He is also Contributing Editor of the book, People Who Influenced the World Over the Past 100 Years [1](Murray Books, Adelaide, 2005). As a writer, he combines a strong factual core with unconventional insights into burning global issues.
Education
Chaulia has two undergraduate degrees in History from St.Stephen's College, Delhi(1995-'98) and University College, Oxford (1998-2000). He took two masters degrees in International Relations from the London School of Economics (2000-'01) and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse (2001-'03). A recipient of prestigious academic awards, he is currently pursuing a PhD at the Maxwell School on the determinants of the behavior of international humanitarian organisations in war zones.
Activism
Chaulia has worked for international humanitarian and peace organisations in the USA (International Rescue Committee), Switzerland (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), Sri Lanka (Nonviolent Peaceforce) and the Philippines (Nonviolent Peaceforce).
He is known to be an advocate for the rights of Kashmiri Hindus, who are victims of ethnic cleansing, and is a Contributing Editor of the Kashmir News Network [2]
