Budhanilkantha School is Nepal's premier boarding high school and middle school. It was established in 1972 with the aim of being the national school of Nepal where gifted children from all corners of Nepal could get educated, including those from poor economic backgrounds who might otherwise not receive a strong education. The school was a boys-only school until 1995, after which, with the change of administration from a British agency to a Nepali one, it became a co-educational school. It is located on the outskirts of Kathmandu valley.
