The Carleton Farms Landfill is located in Sumpter Township of Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The landfill spans 630-acres. It is owned by Republic Waste Services, and is about 30 miles west of Detroit. As of September, 2005, one million tons of garbage is shipped from Toronto, Ontario in Canada to the Carleton Farms Landfill annually [1].
