Film photography is photography using a light-sensitive chemical emulsion to capture the image rather than an electronic sensor. Some advantages include high resolution, good color, and no batteries required. The main disadvantages are that it's a much slower process than digital and less forgiving of operator error.
Film is losing ground but is still very widely used and continues to be produced.
