Foresight Desktop Linux is a distribution of free software that targets switchers from Microsoft Windows as well as enthusiasts who want to run the latest software.
FDL is a GNOME-based distribution, and prides itself in tracking GNOME development closely. In fact, FDL aims to showcase all the latest GNOME developments in a tightly integrated package. The distribution contained both GNOME 2.12 and GNOME 2.10 on the same day that they were released repectively. The latest version is 0.9.0.1, released on September 10, 2005.
A characteristic that makes FDL stand out is its usage of the conary software packaging system. The software packaging system only updates things which are updated. Not like the .rpm or the .deb format the whole packages.
