Foresight Desktop Linux is a distribution of free software and non-free software that targets switchers from Microsoft Windows as well as enthusiasts who want to run the latest software.
Foresight is a GNOME-based distribution, and prides itself in tracking GNOME development closely. In fact, Foresight aims to showcase all the latest GNOME developments in a tightly integrated package. The distribution imported GNOME 2.14, 2.12, and 2.10 on the day each was released. The latest version is 0.9.9, including GNOME 2.16 as the favored desktop environment.
One feature that makes Foresight stand out is the Conary software packaging system. This system only updates those specific files in packages which need to be updated, in contrast to other formats, such as the RPM and DEB formats, which download whole packages.
