After this point you have learned enough grammar to learn simple sentances. Try learning words you find interesting by looking them up in a dictionary such as wiktionary. If you want some guidance, trying learning the words in the Japanese Swadesh list. A Swadesh list is list of words below was devised by the linguist Morris Swadesh. He used it as a means of determining the closeness of any pair of languages. It is a useful list of the most common words, which are essential to most languages and may be used in learning basic communication in other languages.
