History
The company has been established by Birmingham-based businessman, Aden Murcutt, representing the travel company Bluearrow/Govisit who sold the tickets. Murcutt had previously tried to set up Flywho as a transatlantic charter airline.[1]. The operation use the services and licences of the Polish charter airline White Eagle Aviation which supplied an ATR 42 aircraft and crews. Scheduled services commenced on 29 May 2007 and were suspended on 7 December 2007.
Trading Standards Investigation
Passengers who have bought tickets from Flwhoosh have been notified that Flywhoosh will not offer refunds [1] and White Eagle Aviation have also said: Suspension of flights in Dundee. Due to economic reasons WEA has decided to suspend until further notice flights to Birmingham and Belfast as of 6.12.2007. All passegners with tickets purchased should contact Flywhoosh representatives for refund. WEA advises strongly not to purchase any tickets directly from Flywhoosh.COM under WEA call sign. [2].
Flywhoosh is a trading name of Go Visit, Virginia House, 56 Warwick Road, Solihull B92 7HX. Go Visit (telephone 0870 421 4615) are refusing to offer refunds. An investigation into trading standards violations has been launched through Solihull Trading Standards Officers. All passengers who are owed money should notify Consumer Direct (an agency of the Office of Fair Trading) on 0845 40 40 506. Go Visit is ATOL registered (ATOL 6962).
Passengers may also be entitled to compensation under the EU's Denied Boarding Compensation directive 261/2004.
Dundee Airport is managed by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL), an agency owned by the Scottish Government. HIAL are talking with Aden Murcutt of Flywhoosh about restarting flights [3] with another carrier despite the fact that Murcutt and Flywhoosh are refusing refunds to passengers.
White Eagle Aviation have stated (on their website): "We regret to inform that despite of many negotiations and efforts made to achieve mutual agreement to continue the Whoosh project in cooperation with BluArrow Aviation the parties didn’t agree to continue the project on current conditions. The contract for providing the flight services between WEA and BluArrow (known as well as GoVisit) was terminated by White Eagle Aviation SA on 4th of December 2007 as a result of BluArrow default due to the not fulfilled by BluArrow provisions of the contract (nonobservance of payment obligations while Blue Arrow was collecting all monies from tickets sold) with obligation for BluArrow for immediate notification the passengers about the final ending of the project with cooperation of White Eagle Aviation SA. However the information was officially published by our UK partner on the web side only on 9th of December 2007."
