Basic commands in Linux

Here are some basic commands

• ls -list files
• su -substitute user
• $ -shell variable
• touch -make file and update timestamps
• rm -delete file
• mkdir -make directory
• !touch -repeat last touch command
• cp -copy
• mv - move or rename file
• top -list top 25 running processes
• who -list which users are logged on
• w -show what users are doing
