William Anthony is the Executive Director of the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation, a Professor at the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Boston University. His work has been in identifying the dimensions of a recovery-oriented mental health system, developing treatment protocols for psychiatric rehabilitation, recognizing future issues for psychiatric rehabilitation and integrating psychiatric rehabilitation and community support system technology into managed care.

Patricia Deegan is a psychiatrist who has recovered from schizophrenia. She written a number of books, journal articles etc on the subject of recovery. Her program "Hearing Voices"is a training given to judges and police officers; as well as numerous mental health workers where the participant listens to recordings of voices wearing headphones. The statements made by these voices are actual words repeated by persons who have heard voices.

Daniel Fisher M.D., Ph.D.is the Executive Director of the National Empowerment Center. He has recovered from schizophrenia, he was hospitalized several times prior to becoming a psychiatrist. He is one of the few psychiatrists in the country who publicly discusses his recovery from mental illness. He is a role model for others who are struggling to recover, and his life dispels the myth that people do not recover from mental illness. His recovery and work in the field were recognized by his selection as a member of the White House Commission on Mental Health.
