Overdrive

Overdrive is a guitar effect that attempts to replicate the sound of a vacuum tube with too much current going through it. As this happens the signal sounds like it is "breaking up" or "distorted". Most guitar pedals that make overdriven sounds use transistors or integrated circuits.
