Why are submarines reffered to as wolf packs?

This is a nautical allusion to submarines as wolves. On the seas sumbmarines merit the allusion due to their many stratigic advantages. The allusion to wolves is due to the human experienced precept that wolves are feared and dangerous animals. When submarines are sent out with objectives to destroy targets it is said they hunt. The allusion is implied from the concept of wolves hunting.
