Loren Booda who first coining the term "recovery psychology" This author sent an email to the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) asking about the concept of mental health recovery in 2005 and asked what the academic psychological implications of this would be. This was after the author had read the US Department Health and Human Services intiative "Sciences to Services" which regarded all this "mental health recovery" propaganda. This author being a student of behavior science; particularly clinical psychology was of course curious about this "mental health recovery" concept. Three years later as this author went through training for case-management for a behavioral health outpatient clinic, the class was asked to watch a video from the NAMI educational series, featuring of course Loren Booda (the same person who had previously coined the phrase "recovery psychology" in an email.) Loren Booda identifies himself as a consumer of mental health services whom is in recovery and now works for NAMI.
