Kata guruma

Kata Guruma is one of the traditional forty throws of Judo as developed by Jigaro Kano, and is said to have been invented by Kano.

Technique Description

Kata Guruma belongs to the third group, Dai-sankyo, of the traditional throwing list, Gokyo (no waza) [1], of Kodokan Judo. It is also part of the current 67 Throws of Kodokan Judo. [2] Because the technique is not a sweep nor a trip and requires tori to grab uke into a carry, it is categorized as a hand technique, Te-Waza. [3]
