Arithmetic

Arithmetic is an important branch of mathematics, and a foundation for many things. It consists of simple operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Children who have calculators may not think that arithmetic is important, but they quickly learn it is when their cars run out of gas and they have no money to buy more.
