Foresight is a GNOME-based distribution, and prides itself in tracking GNOME development closely. In fact, Foresight aims to showcase all the latest GNOME developments in a tightly integrated package. The distribution contained both GNOME 2.12 and GNOME 2.10 on the same day that they were released repectively. The latest version is 0.9.4.mr6, released on May 4, 2006.
A characteristic that makes Foresight stand out is its usage of the Conary software packaging system. This software packaging system only updates those specific files in packages which need to be updated. This sets it apart from the .rpm and .deb formats, which download whole packages.
