Bellevue Education Group Limited is an education management company which owns eleven independent schools in the UK and two Swiss boarding schools.[1] [2]

Through the Bellevue Place Education Trust, set up in partnership with Place Group, Bellevue Education also runs, or has been pre-approved to run, a number of UK state-funded academies, under the Free School programme.[3] [4]

35% of Bellevue Education is owned by its Chief Executive, and founder, Mark Malley, and the other major shareholder is Plato One Ltd, a Hong Kong listed company controlled by Bellevue's chairman Marwan Naja, an entrepreneur and investor focusing on the education sector.[5] [6] [7]

Company history

Bellevue Education Group Limited was founded under the name House Education by Mark Malley in 2003, when he took over the Norfolk House preparatory school in London.[8][9] [10]

In 2008 House Education was renamed The Really Great Education Company Limited (EDCO) and purchased Weston Green School in Surrey.[8] [9] [11] [12] It also purchased Skippers Hill Manor Preparatory School in East Sussex in 2010.[9] [13]

The company adopted the name Bellevue Education in 2011, prior to acquiring three more independent schools: Edenhurst Prep School in Staffordshire, Brabyns Preparatory School in Cheshire, and Gateway School in Buckinghamshire.[8] [9] [14] [15] [16]

Bellevue acquired its two international Swiss boarding schools in 2012,[9] [17] [18] and its sixth UK independent school, Wandsworth Preparatory School.[9] [19]

During 2013, Bellevue acquired two more UK independent schools: Montessori House Nursery in Muswell Hill and Elmhurst School in South Croydon.[9] [20] [21] In the same year they formed Bellevue Place Education Trust, in partnership with Place Group, and opened their first state-funded free school, Rutherford House in Balham.[22]

Bellevue acquired two more independent schools in 2014, making a total of 11: Forest Preparatory School in Altrincham and Forest Park Preparatory School in Sale, Cheshire.[9] [23]
