St Andrews University Fly Fishing Club
The St Andrews University Fly Fishing Club was founded in 2005 by then first year student William Culbert.
The club was established to display a passion for fly fishing to the wider University community. The term 'Escapism' has been strongly associated with the club, due to the club's aim to allow students to escape the stresses and strains of University life and place them in the scenic beauty of the Perthshire, Fife & Angus countryside as well as the Highlands and many Islands of Scotland.
The club is the only University Club in Europe and one of few in the world. It has also received commendation from Jeremy Paxman, David Cameron and Iain Duncan Smith.[citation needed]
The current president is Ian Cunningham.
